While browsing the web yesterday, i came down to a very interesting website… Fleck, it seems to be a new way to interact with your pages, it allows users to add “notes” on your web pages or blogs. No installation needed very simple to use.
From my point of view it could be a great tool for web developers, when working on your pages, you could just drop a note on some part of the page, for example where your CSS is not good, or even better where some images are not well displayed in one browser and correctly in another and with the sharing capabilities of fleck you can easily share this information with your colleagues.
Here is some screen shots of how it looks like when u integrate it to your web page.
so let’s begin flecking (to post of notes on the web)….
- 100 GBs of premium storage
- 1 TB of short-path bandwidth
- Host up to 100 individual sites
- 1000 email accounts
- 64 MB Ruby/Mongrel container
- and much more…
The (gs) Grid-Server currently features the following versions of software:
- PHP 4.4.4
- PHP 5.1.6
- Perl v5.8.4
- Python v2.3.5
- Apache 2.0.54
- MySQL 4.1.11
- PostgreSQL 7.4.7
The grid-server compared to the shared hosting packages provided a better handling of what is commonly known as the “bad neighbor effect“… read more here.
The migration from my old hosting plan on another server to Media Temple was quiet tricky, got issues like character encoding and the tool provided by MySQL for data migration is, how can i say, i bit difficult to handle compared to DTS tool provided by SQL Server… Finally i managed to get my data to the new server manually by generating INSERT Scripts…. 🙁
But now that’s its done i am pretty good, and i can now begin to get some pretty good things going on the blog, since i have much much more webspace and bandwidth 😉
Long time no post… 🙁 yes i know, it’s been a while since i last posted something up. But work has been taking up a lot of my time lately, no much time available to post something on the blog…
Just to sum up what i have been doing lately…
Working on AJAX, creating a module to simulate Google Suggest
Reading a lot on AJAX
Got the book Head First Design Patterns and reading it everyday… ( I will make a new post on this book when i am finish, it a great book)
Also implemented an RSS generator module
No need to say that all these are based upon ASP.NET
Till i get some more time to post some new stuff, hold on. 😉
And just for you not to get in too depressed about this post, that relates about 1 month of what i have been doing, here where i relax every weekend… 🙂
